Who the heck is Medword anyway?

Medword is a company based in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada for 20 years. We recently relocated & are now based in Chilliwack, B.C. Chilliwack is a small city, only 60 minutes east of Vancouver, B.C., & nestled among part of the Coastal Mountains. Chilliwack is one of Canada's fastest growing cities

Our company was established in 1989 but we started providing helpful information to medical transcriptionists via the web in 1995/96. We finally got our own domain (www.medword.com) on November 12, 1996 and have been known on the web by that name since.

Let us pose this question: Would you make your name, address, & telephone numbers available for thousands of people a day to see? Although we are a small, private company, we want to demonstrate that we are honest and straightforward in our business dealings. Part of accomplishing this is our willingness to welcome publicly-recognized third-parties monitoring the claims we make about products we recommend and how we treat customers. We want to ensure that you feel comfortable buying from us, or giving information to us about yourself, which we never share, or would not share, without your consent or knowledge. We make the above statements because we want you to be absolutely convinced that we are a real, ongoing, and reputable business.

Do you ... worry that your personal information will not be kept private?

Please consider this for a moment - People at Medword buy over the Internet regularly. And, like you, we too are hesitant about giving any personal information over the Internet and often simply refuse to do so if certain conditions are not present. This is a good attitude because a lot of web sites are unscrupulous or, to be kind, just simply ignorant about these things - many do not even have a privacy policy. Because we are aware of our own privacy concerns, we extend that same requirement to the need for our customer's privacy. We have a long-standing privacy policy and we want, and even encourage, our visitors to read it.

We will not, and we repeat for emphasis, we will not - share, sell, or give away any information we receive about you - ever. We would never give marketing companies e-mail addresses, buying habits, sales figures, or anything else related to our customers. We hate being bugged by unsolicited e-mail and sales gimmicks and so would never subject our loyal customers to this. We regard the information you give us as extremely private. We would never violate the trust you place in us when you buy from our site or contact us by e-mail. Information transmitted to us is kept secure and password protected behind two special "firewalls" which protect our systems from unwanted and illegal intrusions. We have been in the medical transcription business since September, 1989, and "confidentiality" is a word we live by every day - it's second-nature to us.

Have you... Never used an Internet Shopping Cart system before?

Internet shopping carts vary widely in what they can or cannot do, but they really are very simple to use. Medword's shopping cart system is extremely simple, fast, and "user friendly." The main thing to remember is that you can pretty well do anything you want as far as what you put in or delete from your cart. No personal information is retained, no sale occurs, and no transaction is recorded, until you actually submit an order complete with your payment information. Even up to the point where you have already entered your payment information, you can stop the transaction either simply by not clicking on the "Submit" or "Submit for Authorization" buttons, or by going to another page, or by even just closing your browser. Now that you are aware of this simple bit of information, you can enjoy looking around, adding items to your cart or deleting them at will.

Do you ... feel hesitant or nervous about giving us your credit card information over the Internet?

We understand why you would be nervous, but there are some facts you should know. We process orders on a "secure server." It costs Medword a lot of money to provide this kind of security for your peace of mind, but. . . we think you and your privacy are worth it.

However the fastest and easiest way to order a product from the Medword site is by using our shopping cart system and paying by credit card.
