Product Shipping Policy

Why do we only ship to the United States and Canada?

• First and foremost, some of the products are not allowed to be exported without special disclaimers or are just not allowed outside the U.S. and Canada for security reasons. These reasons may be due to some of the programming code found in the software or the special architecture of the chips or boards in some of the electronic printed circuit products.
  
  
• Secondly, and a very common reason, is the costs of shipping items outside North America are extremely high. Most of the standard shipping charges are often more than the cost of many of the lower-priced items being shipped, so most customers will not agree to the shipping costs.
  
  
• Unfortunately, there are some areas of the world or specific countries where companies or individuals are engaged in well-documented software piracy and product "knock-off" activities. For this reason, many of the merchants that Medword deals with will not allow shipment of their product outside of Canada or the United States. Although these same problems exist in both Canada and the U.S., the problems are fewer, are taken more seriously by law enforcement agencies, and more legal avenues are open and affordable to the manufacturer should their product be copied or pirated, and choose to press charges. Medword has no control over where our merchants or suppliers choose to ship their products, but Medword supports their decision.
  
  
• Many products only carry a warranty recognized in the U.S. or Canada.

Please be aware that if any software, recorded tape product, or other product is reversed engineered, and/or copied, and/or sold, and/or distributed in a way that is not allowed in a software user agreement or a manufacturer's legal property rights, it is classed as a criminal offense in most every country in the world and is usually punishable by a prison sentence, financial restitution, financial damages being awarded, and a fine. If you have shipped the product or software that enabled such a crime, you may be considered an accomplice under a variety of criminal statutes under the laws of the United States or Canada, and be charged with the such offences. The piracy of software, illegal copying of CDs or tape products, and the reverse engineering or the manufacturing of "knock-off" products is being taken much more seriously today than it ever has been. More and more countries are actively finding individuals and/or companies engaged in these activities and charging them to the fullest extent of their laws.
