Pulsed-Galvanic Stimulator
The Pulsed-Galvanic Stimulator is a High Voltage Galvanic system. This device is battery powered and generates small pulses of electrical current. The output signal has a "twin-peak monophasic wave form with a fixed duration." Each pulse is much shorter in duration (5 us) and can achieve much higher voltage than conventional stimulator.
The Pulsed-Galvanic stimulator system has one channel and can use up to 2 pads.
The polarity switch sets the polarity of the active electrode in relation to the dispersive electrode. The active electrode is the pad that delivers the treatment current. The dispersive electrode completes the patient circuit. The Pulsed-Galvanic stimulator has fully adjustable amplitude (voltage) and the rate of twin pulses is adjustable from 2 pairs (two pulses) per second to 100 pairs/second. The LED indicator can show the battery condition and function mode. When the power is on, the LED will show green. If the battery power is low, the LED will show red. In the alternation mode, the LED will alternate between red and green.
Indications: Immediate post surgical stimulation of calf muscles to prevent venus thrombosis; increasing or maintaining range of motion; muscle re-education; disuse atrophy, and; insufficient blood circulation.

TENS, EMS, & Galvanic Units as Therapy:
TENS units, EMS (Electronic Muscle Stimulator) units, and galvanic units are an accepted form of therapy by Western medicine in the treatment of specific musculoskeletal conditions. They are commonly used by medical doctors, medical rehabilitation specialists, and medical physiotherapists to treat specific symptoms. These professionals often "prescribe" where the TENS electrodes & EMS electrodes should be placed on the body. Please refer to the bibliography of medical citations in our article found here. Always consult a licensed physician before starting any type of medical therapy.
